Vinted Members Voice Anger Over Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
